Collins last-minute visit and offer was part of the West Virginia staff putting finishing touches on their 2024 class and giving an in-state talent another look.
Listed at 5-foot-10, Collins fits the bill of a potential diamond in the rough type talent. Collins caught 84 passes for 1,904 yards and 27 touchdowns while leading his team to the West Virginia AAA Final. He also added five more scores as a runner.
Collins was named the 2023 West Virginia High School Player of the Year. He’s known for his immense speed and impressed those who saw him at a camp last summer.
WVSN was able to briefly speak with Collins about his visit and offer on Sunday. First, he made it known that this is a scholarship offer, not a PWO like some have speculated. He then said the coaches told him they liked that he’s a true athlete and feel they can place him all over the field. Collins says the WVU staff expressed liking his speed and ability to get open.
