Quinerly, who is the reigning Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year, finished as one of five finalists for the award last year. USC’s JuJu Watkins ended up claiming the honor.
Quinerly is currently one of four players from the Big 12 up on the initial watch list. She was named to the Preseason All-Big 12 team earlier this month as a unanimous selection.
Overall during the 2023-24 season, Quinerly averaged a career-high 19.8 points per game as a junior. She also recorded career-high totals in steals (97), assists (89), offensive rebounds (35), shooting percentage (46.2%), three-point percentage (34.4%), and free throw percentage (78.5%).
From the press release:
The Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame announced the 20 watch-list candidates for the 2025 Jerry West Award and, in partnership with the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA), the 20 watch-list candidates for the 2025 Ann Meyers Drysdale Award.
The annual Jerry West Award, named after the late Class of 1980 Hall of Famer and 1959 NCAA Final Four Most Valuable Player, celebrates its 11th year by highlighting the top shooting guards in Division I men’s college basketball.
The Ann Meyers Drysdale Award, in its eighth year, honors the top shooting guard in women’s NCAA Division I college basketball. It is named after the Class of 1993 Hall of Famer, the first player, regardless of gender, to be chosen for an All-America Team in four consecutive college seasons.
