Some NFL players endure a sophomore slump, but Dante Stills is enjoying a significant boom in his production in his second year. Stills is actually having so much success that it’s placing among the best at his position across the entire NFL, especially in recent weeks.

With two sacks in the last two weeks, Stills has been more productive in that particular category than any other interior defensive lineman. Stills’ ability to get to the quarterback has also helped lead the Cardinals to back-to-back wins, improving their record to 4-4 going into a Sunday matchup with the struggling Chicago Bears.

Stills’ sack total so far throughout the 2024 season place him just 0.5 sack away from tying his total from his rookie year in 2023.

Overall in 2024, Stills has 22 total tackles and a pass deflection to go along with his three sacks – his first one came against Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff. He’s also sacked Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert as well.

And while some might be surprised that Stills, a sixth round draft pick, has been able to transition so smoothly to the NFL, his head coach with the Cardinals is learning to get used to it.

Arizona Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon wanted to make sure everyone was aware of how well Stills was progressing, bringing it up during a press conference towards the end of last season.

“I don’t know if there’s a guy that’s made a bigger jump than him,” said Gannon about Stills when talking about the 2023 rookie class.

Stills registered 47 tackles, 3.5 sacks and a forced fumble during his rookie season in 2023.

After a record setting college career at WVU, the Cardinals drafted Stills in the sixth round of the 2023 NFL Draft.
