Look: 2025 In-State Commit Takes Visit to West Virginia
2025 three-star commit Braydon Hawthorne revealed his visit pictures from his trip to West Virginia. Hawthorne is an in-state recruit who is a senior at Huntington Prep.
Hawthorne committed to WVU on Oct. 4, becoming the first of the 2025 class for Darian DeVries. Four-star guard Kelvin Odih joins Hawthorne in the second full recruiting class for DeVries.
Hawthorne, 6-foot-8, picked up offers from Florida Gulf Coast, Mount St. Mary’s, Ohio, Old Dominion, Pepperdine, Radford, UMBC and Wichita State. Hawthorne took trips to Ohio and Old Dominion during his recruitment. Hawthorne is the No. 213 prospect in the country and the No. 1 player in the state of West Virginia, according to 247 Sports.
Hawthorne took his visit to West Virginia recently.
“It was great. There was great energy from everybody. [The staff] told me that they want me,” Hawthorne said with WV Sports Now.
Hawthorne was able to give the staff the exciting news that he would be committing just days later.
“I feel like nothing is better than to represent your home state,” Hawthorne said.
WV Sports Now will provide updates on West Virginia basketball recruiting news.

Our fans need to recall how they thought Bobby Bowden needed to be fired because our fans thought we was a terrible coach. And I guess he proved us wrong. We are not a football school or a basketball school. We are a university for learning. It might help recruiting if our academics were more like Duke’s. Ask the school President how we can raise our academic rank.
