WVU Football offers Max Anderson

West Virginia’s possible quarterback of the future will officially sign on with the WVU football program later this week. A week after announcing his commitment, Max Anderson revealed he’s going to put pen to paper at his high school on Feb. 5 at 11:45 am ET.

The 2025 Spring Mills star threw for near 1,500 yards and 19 touchdowns during his senior campaign. Anderson was not only a threat through air, as he ran for 1,000 yards and 18 touchdowns, averaging over nine yards a carry. He also experiences time on the defensive side of the ball.

A Martinsburg, W.Va. native, Anderson received his offer from WVU on Jan. 7 after he spoke to assistant coach Blaine Stewart.

WV Sports Now then spoke with Anderson about his recruitment.

Stewart saw Andersonโ€™s film recently. โ€œHe (Coach Stewart) said he liked the way I was throwing the ball. He told me I had a great season and he was proud of what I did this season.โ€

Growing up in West Virginia, the offer meant a lot to Anderson. โ€œItโ€™s always great to be noticed by your home state school.

Anderson then continued. โ€œIn which I used to support in going to a lot of their games watching my uncle play, and just being a fan in general!โ€

As noted of the pure athletic Anderson is, his conversation with Stewart stayed in the realm of staying at quarterback, with Anderson noting, โ€œI think I fit really well with (Coach) Rodriguezโ€™s offensive schemes.โ€

Anderson would excel under the revamped offensive scheme. Coach Rodriguez emphasizes speed, agility, and versatility, in which Anderson has showcased all of the above. The versatility of throwing and rushing for over 1,000 yards, while also showcasing his speed and agility with averaging over nine yards a carry seems to be a perfect fit for Coach Rodriguezโ€™s offense.

Anderson not only excels on the field, but he also boasts a 4.0 GPA and prides himself on his on his leadership. โ€œIโ€™m just a hard working kid,โ€ he said.

โ€œI bring leadership and a guy who serves his community for my hometown.โ€

The Spring Mills gunslinger is essentially a perfect fit for a Rodriguez offense.
