A trio of former Mountaineers completed a pre-draft workout with the Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday, as reported by ESPN’s Dave McMenamin.

Quinn Slazinski and RaeQuan Battle, who recently played for West Virginia this past season, joined Jalen Bridges in Los Angeles. The Lakers also worked out Quincy Olivari (Xavier), Xavier Johnson (Indiana) and Lance Jones (Purdue).

Slazinski and Battle were fifth-year seniors for West Virginia, who won just nine games this past season. Slazinski averaged 12.3 points, 4.1 rebounds and 2.2 assists in 32 games. At one point, the 6-foot-9 forward was looking to get an extra year of eligibility from the NCAA but is targeting a professional career.

Battle averaged 16.1 points and 4.0 rebounds on 41% shooting from the field in 22 games. Battle fought for eligibility during non-conference play after needing a waiver to compete for the Mountaineers. The Tulalip, Wa. native became eligible in mid-December and scored 29 points in each of his first two games. Battle scored over 20 points in nine games. Battle won back-to-back Big 12 Player of the Week awards as soon as he returned to the floor.

Publicly, Battle has also worked out with the Portland Trail Blazers and Orlando Magic.

Bridges attended Fairmont Senior High School, contributing to consecutive West Virginia State Class AA Title appearances. Bridges was a four-star prospect coming out of high school, committing to WVU and staying home. Bridges spent two seasons playing at West Virginia, becoming a full-time starter for a year and a half. Bridges averaged 7.3 points and 4.2 rebounds through 61 games for the Mountaineers.

Bridges entered the transfer portal in March 2022, leaving WVU for Baylor. Bridges averaged 12.2 points and 5.7 rebounds on 47% shooting from the field this past season.

Another former WVU player, Jesse Edwards, is completing workouts with NBA teams this month. Click here to check out Edwards’ list of teams interested.
