Neal Brown took a step tonight towards attempting to replace senior cornerbacks Keith Washington and Hakeem Bailey by getting a commitment from a talented JUCO player.

After making his official visit to Morgantown this weekend, 2020 3-star Jackie Matthews from Mississippi Gulf Coast Junior College made a commitment tonight to West Virginia.

Matthews, who chose the Mountaineers over other offers from Central Florida, Western Kentucky, Troy and Charlotte, becomes their 14 commitment in 2020 and their third defensive back.

The 3-star cornerback was recruited to West Virginia by cornerbacks coach Jahmile Addae, who formally offered him a scholarship last month. This season, Matthews was named the MACJC Defensive Back MVP after finishing the season with 49 tackles and 5 interceptions.

Matthews will graduate in December and have two years of eligibility remaining at West Virginia.
