Transfer DB Places WVU Football Among Top 3 Schools
A transfer player coveted by several major programs has narrowed down his list to his top three schools.
Tennessee Tech transfer defensive back Gerald Kilgore is considering the WVU football program, FAU and South Carolina. A redshirt freshman in 2023, Kilgore still has most of his career in front of him as he looks to move up to the FBS level.

Listed at 6-foot and 202 pounds, Kilgore recorded 37 total tackles and 2.5 tackles for a loss this season. While adding a player from a school like Tennessee Tech can be gamble for a program like West Virginia since there’s no guarantee success will translate, the interest Kilgore received after entering the portal shows the Mountaineers are far from the only school to feel he can play in the FBS.
It’s likely South Carolina has the edge since Kilgore’s brother plays for the Gamecocks.
Kilgore initially was hoping to play quarterback in college before being switched to a member of the defensive secondary.
You can find Kilgore and other transfer players listed on our partner the Portal Report’s database.
