The West Virginia women’s basketball program is embarking on a new era. And head coach Dawn Plitzuweit has made another addition to her staff. She announced that Bernadette Devaney will join the support staff as Director of Recruiting.

“She is energetic, highly organized and is an extremely driven individual. This is going to be a lot of fun working together,” Plitzuweit said in a statement released by the WVU athletic department.

Devaney arrives in Morgantown after serving as an assistant coach at Lehigh the past three seasons. Before her time at Lehigh, she served as the director of operations for the LU women’s basketball team during the 2018-19 season.

“I am pumped to join the staff and be able to work with such an amazing group of individuals,” Devaney said when asked by the WVU athletic department about her new role. “Everyone is highly motivated, hardworking and loves to have a great time on and off the court. I am honored and excited to step in as the director of recruiting. Let’s Go Mountaineers!“

Devaney also tweeted her excitement after the news was officially announced.

Prior to embarking on a career in coaching and recruiting, Devaney played four seasons at Lehigh from 2014-2018.
