Best Virginia and Herd That both have advanced in the opening round of the TBT to match up the West Virginia and Marshall alumni teams. This will be the second-straight TBT tournament that the two have matched up.

In 2022, WVU’s alumni defeated Herd That 89-79, which was a part of their Elite-8 journey to Dayton.

Herd That has added a few new players, some that didn’t attend Marshall. Former Houston guard Rob Gray is a notable add, as well as ex-North Carolina forward JP Tokoto. The Marshall-based alumni team is highlighted by Jon Elmore, Steve Browning, Taevion Kinsey and others. Ot Elmore has transitioned off the court and is in a full-time general manager role.

Herd That defeated Zoo Crew, Pitt’s alumni team, 86-71 on Tuesday night.

Best Virginia squared past their first-round opponent Dubois Dream 70-68. Former WVU G Erik Stevenson connected on a three-pointer to hit the target score. Dubois Dream, the 8-seed, kept up with Best Virginia throughout the entire game. Stevenson’s three got them to avoid the upset.

Best Virginia is 7-3 all-time in their TBT history, dating back to 2019. The Basketball Tournament is a 64-team field, which the winning team takes home $1 million.

Best Virginia and Herd That will tipoff at Wesbanco Arena in Wheeling at 7 p.m. on ESPN+ on Thursday.
