All 105 is a West Virginia Sports Now series profiling each member of the 2025 WVU Football Roster.

Thrust into a starting role as a true freshman because of injuries during the 2023 season, Ben Cutter saw his playing time dip last year.

The six foot tall, 225 pound inside linebacker is the type of player coaches love โ€” he won the Mountaineersโ€™ Blue Collar award twice during his freshman season โ€” eating up snaps on special teams and stepping into whatever role the team needs him to.

Expect Cutter to take plenty of snaps for WVU Football this fall, whether in a similar capacity to previous seasons or as a full fledged starter.

15 โ€ข Ben Cutter, junior linebacker

Last year: Cutter appeared in all 13 games for the Mountaineers, starting two. That marked a drop in playing time from his true freshman season.

Stats: Across 26 career games (nine starts) Cutter has 95 tackles, 6.5 tackles for a loss and two sacks.

Camp outlook: The Mountaineers brought in intriguing talent at inside linebacker this offseason, including an FCS All-American. As such, Cutter will face competition for a starting role.

Projected role: Expect a similar role to previous seasons where Cutter serves as a top special teamer and key reserve.

Accolades, highlights: A three-star recruit in high school, Cutter led his team to a state championship and won defensive MVP honors.
