Published

on

West Virginia forward Isaiah Cottrell announced on Wednesday that he will be entering his name into the NCAA transfer portal. Cottrell made his decision official on social media.

Cottrell played 43 games in his career at WVU.

Cottrell spent most of his freshman year on the sidelines, recovering from an Achilles injury suffered back in Dec. 2020. From then, the Las Vegas native completed a full recovery to begin his second year for the Mountaineers. Cottrell started at center for most of the year, averaging 4.2 points, 2.8 rebounds and 0.7 blocks through 33 games.

Cottrell becomes the fourth player to transfer from West Virginia in 2022, with Taj Thweatt and Seny Ndiaye transferring during the season and forward Jalen Bridges announcing his intention to transfer shortly after Cottrell. The entire class of 2020 has departed from West Virginia within three months.

Cottrell will have three years of eligibility remaining.
