One of West Virginia’s latest recruits already has the support of a current WVU star. Jahiem White offered words of encouragement to Carmelo McKenzie after seeing he added the Mountaineers to his list of offers.

“Congrats to my little brother Carmelo McKenzie on his 12th offer to WV! Mountaineer Nation Let’s Bring Him Home! Show him some love!!,” said White on X (formerly Twitter).

McKenzie, a top defensive lineman in the 2026 class out of IMG Academy, informed WV Sports Now of his offer from West Virginia on Saturday and then announced the offer on social media.

WVU defensive line coach Will Green called McKenzie with the offer. McKenzie was also being pursued by the previous WVU staff and attended a camp in Morgantown in February of 2024.

Listed at about 6-foot-3 and 290 pounds, McKenzie holds a three-star rating from at least one national outlet. He’s mostly viewed as a defensive tackle at the college level.

McKenzie also has offers from other Power Four programs like Auburn, Boston College, Iowa State, North Carolina State, Penn State and Syracuse. Other notable schools like Akron, Buffalo, Charlotte, Delaware, Nevada and Western Kentucky have offered McKenzie.

Penn State has been showing heavy interest recently. McKenzie visited State College in January.
