In the Holler: Insight on Why WVU Football Staff Loves 2026 3-Star ATH David Coleman Jr.

The first week of June is already filling up for the WVU football staff as they continue to book recruits for official visits. And another true athlete in the 2026 class announced he has a trip to Morgantown on his calendar late Sunday night.
David Coleman Jr., a 5-foot-11, 165-pound three-star from Georgia, will be on campus and at the facility on June 6, according to his post on X (formerly Twitter). He even tagged WVU corner backs coach Rod West in his post.

Coleman, who attends Camden County High School in Kingsland, Ga., is listed as simply an athlete by most national recruiting outlets. He even told WV Sports Now that his athletic versatility is what West said makes him such an attractive player to WVU.
WVSN was able to learn more of what was said in a recent conversation between Coleman and West.
“Coach Rod West said he loves how I play the game. Iโm a ATH (DOG). He also said Iโm fearless and will come down and make a hit and knows how to play the ball when itโs in the air. He feels Iโm the best return man in the country and he feels that will help them at WVU,” said Coleman.
West Virginia sent him an official offer on Feb. 2.
West Virginia is also far from the only school who feels that way about Coleman’s potential. He has offers from programs of all kinds, most notably Florida State, Liberty, Ole Miss and USF.
