A former Mountaineer and current member of the Super Bowl bound Philadelphia Eagles has been inducted on rape and kidnapping charges.

Josh Sills, 25, who was with West Virginia from 2016-2019 before finishing his college career at Oklahoma State, was indicted by a Guernsey, Ohio County Common Pleas Court grand jury on one count of rape and one count of kidnapping, both are classified as first-degree felonies.

According to the indictment, Sills engaged in sexual activity in Dec. of 2019 that was not consensual and held a victim against her will. The indictment also states that the alleged crime was immediately reported and the Guernsey County Sheriff’s Office conducted a detailed investigation.

The case was presented to the grand jury and is being prosecuted by the Special Prosecutions Section of the Attorney General’s Office.

Sills has been issued a summons to appear in Guernsey County Common Pleas Court at 1 p.m. on Feb. 16, just four days after Super Bowl LVII is scheduled to take place in Arizona.

There’s been no comment from the Eagles on this matter at this time.

Sills signed with the Eagles as an undrafted free agent before the 2022 season.
