Former Top CB Recruit to Transfer Out of WVU Football
Ensuring the WVU football secondary will look different in 2026, cornerback Dawayne Galloway Jr. has decided to enter the transfer portal after just one season as a Mountaineer.
Galloway confirmed an earlier report about his departure by responding with “God has a plan for me” on social media.

Galloway came to Morgantown when West Virginia flipped him away from Purdue on last year’s Early National Signing Day in December of 2024. He did not see any playing time during the 2025 season.
A four-star recruit out of high school, Galloway picked up two interceptions in 2024 despite only seeing a pass thrown his way in three games. He added 37 tackles as well as 1,478 all-purpose yards (which includes kick and punt returns) and scored a total of 16 touchdowns.
