Former WVU Coach Promoted to N.C. State DC

Former WVU coach Tony Gibson has been promoted to defensive coordinator with North Carolina State. He will focus on coaching the linebackers.

N.C. State head coach Dave Doeren announced the move Wednesday. Gibson left WVU for N.C. State after the 2018 season and served as co-defensive coordinator and coached the safeties.

Gibson will have a lot of work ahead of him as he will try to improve a Wolfpack defense that allowed 30 or more points 7 times during the 2019 season, which even included allowing 44 in a loss to the Mountaineers.
