Former WVU Football DE Moves from Big 12 to ACC

From the Big 12 to the ACC, a former WVU player removed from the roster after spring practice has found his new school.
Defensive end Makai Byerson committed to Boston College, one of the schools he turned down in favor of West Virginia out of high school, on Thursday.
Byerson posted a graphic that included an image of the WVU logo and an arrow pointing to his new destination of Boston College.

A Manchester High School in Midlothian, Va. product, Byerson was regarded as a three-star prospect when he signed with WVU in December of 2023 as a member of Neal Brown’s 2024 recruiting class. He was one of the first 2024 recruits offered by WVU.
Byerson recorded one total tackle off an assist during the 2024 season, his only statistic as a Mountaineer. He then officially entered the transfer portal on April 15.
Listed as 6-foot-4 and 270 pounds, Byerson joins 2024 class headliner Obinna Onwuka as a pass rusher of the future for the Mountaineers.
Byerson also received offers from Duke, East Carolina, James Madison, Kentucky, Liberty, Marshall, Old Dominion, Rutgers, Tennessee and Virginia Tech as a high school recruit before committing to WVU in June of 2023.
