WVU Basketball HC Ross Hodge celebrating with Best Virginia team

After celebrating Best Virginia’s win over Shell Shock, team general manager John Flowers took time to recognize someone who helped make this run possible – WVU’s Ross Hodge.

While Flowers has been a driving force of making Best Virginia possible for years, and was still heavily involved in building this year’s team, he says this summer wouldn’t have been possible without the support of Hodge.

“I canโ€™t say enough about how supportive Ross Hodge has beenโ€ฆ from personally donating to Best Virginia to help make this run possible, buying the team pizza after games, giving us James Reese. Coach gets it!,” posted Flowers on X (formerly Twitter) late Monday night.ย

And as a thank you, Best Virginia let Hodge do the honors of advancing their sign further through the bracket after the game, a celebratory tradition in the TBT for the winning team.

Flowers brought up James Reese since he’s a product of North Texas where Hodge came from, not WVU. Reese led all scorers with 24 points in the game.

More coverage from Best Virginia’s big win

For the first time in team history, Best Virginia is in the TBT Final Four after a 73-61 win over Shell Shock.

Despite making history, head coach Jarrod West Sr. is taking it โ€œone game at a timeโ€ in the postgame press conference.

โ€œItโ€™s championship or bustโ€ฆ Weโ€™re happy, but we ainโ€™t done nothing yetโ€ฆ Weโ€™re happy to be here. The only way we get to the championship is by being here,โ€ West said. โ€œSo weโ€™re taking one game at a time. Weโ€™re trying to go 1-0 every game.โ€

West also spoke on the teamโ€™s defensive ability, emphasizing how important it is to Best Virginiaโ€™s identity.

โ€œThey got in transition, but when we set our defense, weโ€™re pretty good. So thatโ€™s what weโ€™re holding our hats on. Thatโ€™s our DNA,โ€ West said.

Best Virginia will play again at 6 p.m. Thursday, hosting Eberlein Drive.
