West Virginia junior pitcher Alek Manoah turned in one of the best seasons by a Mountaineer pitcher in program history in 2019 and was awarded today as the Pitcher of the Year by the Big 12 Conference.

Manoah recently broke the single season strikeouts record in his last start of the regular season vs George Washington last weekend notching his 124th of the year.

He holds an 8-3 record with a 1.91 ERA and three complete games. In his 94.1 innings pitched, hitters are only hitting a shoddy .189 off of him. Manoah has almost certainly solidified himself as a top ten pick in this year’s MLB Draft, but how much more can he climb?

West Virginia head coach Randy Mazey was also awarded by the Big 12 as coach of the year. The Mountaineers will take on Kansas tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. in the first round of the Big 12 tournament.
