Neal Brown Dispels South Carolina Rumors, ‘I’m Not a Candidate There’

West Virginia football coach Neal Brown did not mince words dispelling recent rumors that he was a candidate for the South Carolina University head coaching job.

“I’m not a candidate there,” Brown said. “I don’t go about addressing every rumor like that that’s out there…but it’s pretty simple, I’m not a candidate there.”

There were reports over the weekend that South Carolina was interested in Brown for the job and wanted to interview him. Brown said rumors like that can come from anyone, legitimate or not.

He said the fact that such rumors are out there might be a good thing for WVU’s perception.

“I guess it’s good because people are paying attention and thinking we’re doing something right so I guess it’s a positive in that manner,” Brown said with a smile.
