Oscar Tshiebwe Named to NABC Player of the Year Watch List

West Virginia big man Oscar Tshiebwe has been named to the preseason watch list for the NABC Division I Player of the Year Award.

Tshiebwe was the Mountaineers’ leading scorer and rebounder last season, averaging 11.2 points and 9.3 rebounds per game last season. The sophomore big man has been piling up honors this preseason, he was named to the All-Big 12 preseason team, included on the Karl Malone Award and Naismith Trophy watch lists, and named one of the top-100 college basketball players by CBS Sports.

Also included on the NABC watch list are Baylor’s Jared Butler, Oklahoma State’s Cade Cunningham and Kansas’ Marcus Garrett.

The Mountaineers open their 2020-21 season this week with a game against South Dakota State University Wednesday. WVU and the Jackrabbits will tip off in the first round of the Crossover Classic at 7 p.m. in South Dakota.
