WVU Basketball transfer recruit Duncan Powell

The WVU basketball staff is still on the hunt to fill out the rest of its roster, and is now furthering the pursuit of a transfer forward.

Duncan Powell will be taking an official visit to WVU from Wednesday through Thursday, according to League Ready via 24/7 High School Hoops.

West Virginia contacted Powell, who initially committed to Louisiana, soon after he reopened his recruitment. Powell averaged 12.1 points, 7.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists at Sacramento State this past season. The 6-foot-8 forward shot 49% from the field as well. Powell has two years of eligibility remaining and began his career at North Carolina A&T.

West Virginia is one of the few Power-5 schools to contact the Dallas, Texas native recently in the transfer portal, per The Athleticโ€™s Tobias Bass. Florida State, Kansas, NC State, Texas and Virginia Tech are the other schools that have contacted Powell.
