WVU big man Ali Ragab entered the transfer portal on Thursday, he tells The Portal Report and WV Sports Now. Ragab spent one season with the Mountaineers under former head coach Josh Eilert.

Ragab (7-foot) joined West Virginia’s team as a walk-on in September. Ragab practiced with Jesse Edwards, Akok Akok and the rest of the frontcourt throughout the season, adding size. Ragab did not appear in a game this season for the Mountaineers, as he was redshirted.

Ragab played for Gannon University for the last two seasons. Ragab averaged 2.8 points and 2.8 rebounds in 9.2 minutes of play. Ragab played high school basketball at Rocktop Academy, a top prep school in Pennsylvania.

Ragab leaves WVU as a redshirt junior and will have two years of eligibility to play. The Cairo, Egypt native becomes the third WVU player departing for the transfer portal this week, joining Kobe Johnson and Jeremiah Bembry.

WVU has landed one transfer commitment with DeVries so far this offseason and has lost Josiah Harris (F), Seth Wilson (G), Patrick Suemnick (F), Kerr Kriisa (G), Bembry (G), Johnson (G) and Ragab. WVU also has a high school commitment from former Drake signee KJ Tenner.
