Sam Hamilton Looks to Be Future of TE Room | WVU Football All 105
All 105 is a West Virginia Sports Now series profiling each member of the 2026 WVU Football Roster.
Moving to West Virginia from a neighboring state, freshman tight end Sam Hamilton signed with the WVU football program in December after being committed for almost a full year.
Hamilton’s commitment came after spending time on campus for Junior Day in February, 2025. After being initially offered by Neal Brown’s staff, Hamilton was re-offered by West Virginia tight ends coach Michael Nysewander in January.
Nysewander then visited Hamilton at his home on Jan. 21 to schedule his official visit to Morgantown, which took place in June.
The 6-foot-4, 245-pound Archbishop Moeller product out of Cincinnati also held offers from Power Four programs like Duke, Houston, Kentucky and Washington among others. In 2024, he caught 22 passes for 272 yards and scored five touchdowns while also earning All-Conference honors. He’s a complete player with an elite blocking ability.

Last Year: Hamilton was named to the Greater Catholic League (GCL) All-League Second Team in 2025.
Stats: He caught 15 passes for 157 yards and two touchdowns his senior year.
Post-Camp Outlook: By most indications, Hamilton seems to have impressed his coaches to this point. However, as a true freshman, it will remain to be seen how much he will see the field. A redshirt season is likely.
Projected Role: TBD
Accolades, Highlights: Hamilton was rated as a three-star recruit and the No. 44 tight end out of high school by 247 Sports.
