WVU Football Edge David Afogho

All 105 is a West Virginia Sports Now series profiling each member of the 2026 WVU Football Roster.

Redshirt junior edge rusher David Afogho transferred to WVU Football after three seasons at Bowling Green, where he broke into the starting lineup in 2025.

6-foot-2 and 246 pounds, Afogho posted 37 tackles (20 solo) last season, adding five tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks across 12 games played. Afoghoโ€™s highlights show a strong if unremarkable edge rusher: while he didnโ€™t make it to the quarterback on most of his plays, he still managed to generate pressure and impact the game. Bowling Greenโ€™s defense struggled last season โ€” much like the Mountaineers โ€” but if West Virginia can improve, a better defensive unit will provide Afogho with more opportunities to get home.

After finding his footing with the Falcons in 2025, Afogho will need to adjust to the rigors of FBS football. He could continue to grow his game and remain a starter, or acclimate to the Big 12 as a reserve. Afogho is one of four edge rushers listed on the Mountaineersโ€™ roster (as opposed to 14 defensive linemen and nine linebackers), indicating a specialized roleโ€ฆ and potentially more playing time.

A high school team captain who won back-to-back Massachusetts state titles in 2021 and 2022, Afogho could also help WVU Football cement an identity after two tumultuous offseasons.
