The return of the top DAWG

A big positive from the TCU game for the West Virginia Mountaineers was the return of David Long to the field.  The sophomore made an impact right away with constant pressure in the TCU backfield.  Long finished the game with 3 tackles, 2 pass deflections and 2 QB hits.  The numbers may not be eye popping however the leadership, energy and constant motor are contagious and helped the DAWGS return to form.

After the huge rushing numbers put up by Kansas in WVU’s last game, the David Long lead DAWGS allowed 197 yards less to TCU.  In that mix the defense also held Darius Anderson t0 67 yards below his season average.  The DAWGS were flying around the field and had Kenny Hill rattled for much of the game.  With the upcoming Big 12 slate the Mountaineers need this leader to anchor the middle along side Senior Al-Rasheed Benton.

Coach Gibson has said many times that Long is a guy who makes plays and expects to see his name in the record books prior to him leaving Morgantown.  If you going to be at Milan Puskar Stadium on Saturday expect to hear tackle by David Long on repeat.  Whenever you see the ball there will be #11 near by.  I expect it to be  LONG day for the Red Raiders.
