MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – It was a thrilling day in Morgantown for West Virginia fans clamoring for a Backyard Brawl win. In the 106th installment of the Pitt-WVU rivalry, the Mountaineers dominated the second half and took advantage of multiple Panther mistakes to secure a 17-6 victory.

The win marked the first in 12 years, dating back to a 21-20 victory on Nov. 25 while in Big East competition. Mountaineers faithful took to Twitter (X) to express their jubilation.

WVU had two chances to put more points on the board at the end but Neal Brown being Neal Brown just tried to run the clock out. Do you honestly think Pitt would have done the same thing? Nope!!!
I am very glad WVU got revenge for last years loss. WVU was long overdue. Let’s hope the injuries heal up fast and WVU continues to find a way to win moving forward. This team showed some fight and gritt that has been missing in a while. Let’s Go Mountaineers!!!
