Visit Convinces Nevada Transfer DB Michael Coats Jr. to Commit to WVU Football
A day after his visit to West Virginia, one of the top transfer defensive backs on the market is committing to the WVU football program. And on the day of his scheduled trip to Ole Miss, Michael Coats Jr. decided to lock on with the Mountaineers.
Coats, who spent three years at a community college after not playing football in high school, is able to continue his college career due to a new NCAA rule. He then transferred to Nevada, recording 13 total tackles and a pick in 10 games in 2023 and 42 tackles and four interceptions in 2024.
Coats was named a first-team All-Mountain West player for his play from this past season.
