Geno Smith appears to be picking up right where he left in 2022. The Seattle Seahawks quarterback threw a perfect strike to his star wide receiver for a touchdown during practice this week.

The pass was and catch was such a highlight the Seahawks posted a video on social media to tease fans of what they will see throughout the 2023 season. Smith then added “just doing what we do” while quoting the post.

The reigning Comeback Player of the Year threw up the laser of a pass and it dropped in over the defender and right where only D.K. Metcalf could get his hands on the ball.

There’s reason for excitement all the way from the Pacific Northwest to Morgantown, West Virginia about Smith trying to top his remarkable comeback season this year. The WVU legend’s 2022 season earned him awards and a new contract, but it’s now time to see what he can do for an encore.

For all of his heroics from last season, Smith earned a spot on the league’s list of its top 100 players. This prestigious group, which is voted on by the players themselves, has Smith at number 77 entering the season.

Geno Smith Makes NFL’s Top 100 List for 2023

Smith is fresh on the heels of throwing for 4,282 yards with 30 touchdowns and only 11 interceptions. He completed a league-leading 69.8% of his passes, posted an 100.9 rating overall and also ran for 366 yards and scored a touchdown on the ground. Smith’s individual success allowed the Seahawks to reach the postseason as a Wild Card.

At one point, Smith’s season reached historic levels in terms of efficiency, tying an NFL record for the most consecutive games completing at least 60% of his passes and doing it with an 80 or better rating. The only other quarterbacks to ever be that consistent efficient for as many games in a row in one season are Peyton Manning and Aaron Rodgers.

While in Las Vegas at the Pro Bowl, Smith put his season into perspective during a chat with our Mike Asti.
