“Country roads, take me home” is what a teacher heard when he put on John Denver’s famous song that’s become synonymous with WVU.

A middle school teacher posted a video that’s since gone viral that showed her class’ reaction to hearing the song that Denver released in 1971. And much to her amazement, her students knew every word and began singing along.

This has, apparently, been happening at middle schools across the country recently. So kids all over, neat and far from West Virginia, are learning and enjoying the song that members of Mountaineer Nation sing after wins or just to close a night while out with friends.

Go ahead and sing along…

“Country roads, take me home. To the place I belong. West Virginia, mountain mama. Take me home, country roads!”
