MORGANTOWN, W.Va – Perfection is usually a reality that’s an impossible to ever achieve, but that’s exact season West Virginia kicker Casey Legg is having.

Legg is now being recognized nationally with the possibility of winning a prestigious award. The redshirt junior has been nominated for the Burlsworth Trophy. This award goes to the most outstanding FBS college football player who began his career as a walk-on.

He began his career, under head coach Dana Holgorsen, as a walk-on. He’d never played a snap of football, opting instead for soccer. That work ethic and determination to get to where he is now earned him a nomination for the Burlsworth Trophy last year as well.

Legg has taken his game to another level this season, converting all 12 field goal attempts and going 29 out of 29 for extra points. His longest kick of the season to date is a 38-yarder.

However, his highlight moment was kicking a field goal in what became the game winning moment in the Mountaineers’ win over Baylor. Legg was named Big 12 Co-Special Teams Player of the Week for that kick.
