The West Virginia football program knows it’s going to take a lot of work to build a strong secondary on defense for years to come. And that’s why they are trying to get in the mix for a top prospect now, even though he still has a year of high school left.

WVU has extended an offer to four-star safety TyShun White. He tweeted about the offer on Wednesday night.

A junior at Buford High School in Buford, Georgia, White lists himself at 6 foot and 185 pounds. He’s ranked as the 40th top recruit in Georgia by 247 Sports and the fifth best at his position from Rivals.

West Virginia is far from the only major program already reaching out to White. Auburn, Arkansas, Florida, Florida State, Penn State, Tennessee, Georgia, Michigan, Michigan State and Mississippi State have are all among the notable schools who have sent offers to White.
