DeVries had shoulder surgery in June after transferring to West Virginia this offseason.
“After consulting with our team doctors and other medical professionals, they have ruled Tucker out indefinitely as he deals with an upper-body injury,” first-year WVU coach Darian DeVries, Tucker’s father, said in a statement. “We have a great bunch of guys in the locker room who I know will rally around him during his absence.”
The announcement came just hours before the team is scheduled to tip off against North Carolina Central inside the WVU Coliseum tonight at 7 p.m. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+.
