WVU F Emmitt Matthews is returning to the starting lineup against Kansas State after missing the previous two games with a left knee injury. Matthews sustained the injury early-on in the UAB game on Dec. 10.

WVU head coach Bob Huggins told the media on Thursday that Matthews is ‘ready to go.’

“He’s going to play,” Huggins said on Thursday. “He’s ready to go.”

Huggins went as far as to say that Matthews will be fine. Matthews returned to practice this week after the Christmas break.

“I think he’ll be fine. Thank goodness it wasn’t a tear, it was a bruise,” Huggins said. “He’s fine.”

West Virginia went 2-0 without Matthews but struggled to win big against Buffalo and Stony Brook. Matthews is averaging 10.8 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.4 assists through 10 games.

West Virginia and Kansas State will tipoff at 7 p.m. on Saturday. ESPN+ will carry the broadcast.
