WVU F Pat Suemnick has come down with an illness on Tuesday morning, according to interim HC Josh Eilert. Eilert mentioned that Suemnick will be evaluated during the trip to Norman, Oklahoma before the Mountaineers take on the 15th-ranked Sooners.

“I get a text this morning that he’s come up with an illness too so he’s going to be checked out by the doctors and trainers this morning to see what he’s got going on,” Eilert said. “We’ll try to isolate him as much as we can as we travel up to Pittsburgh.”

“It’s that time of the year. You never know when you’re going to get that call in the morning that somebody came down with something. Sounds like Pat is that guy today,” Eilert added.

Suemnick has been playing great basketball over the past couple of weeks, as he was given an opportunity for more playing time once Jesse Edwards fractured his wrist on Dec. 16. Suemnick is averaging 9.8 points and 5.0 rebounds over the last four games. Suemnick most recently helped West Virginia past No. 25 Texas at home behind his 16 points and six rebounds.

West Virginia will fly out of Pittsburgh to get to Oklahoma on Tuesday and will tipoff with the Sooners on Wednesday at 8 p.m. WV Sports Now will provide updates on Suemnick when available.
