Neal Brown is close to adding another coach to his 2022 staff: Coastal Carolina’s Tony Washington.

ESPN’s Pete Thamel reported that Washington was planning to leave head coach Jamey Chadwell’s staff in favor of Neal Brown’s.

After USC’s Graham Harrell came to Morgantown and WVU’s Gerad Parker departed for the Notre Dame tight ends job, Brown was seeking a wide receivers coach to fill the offensive void, and Washington fit the bill. He spent 2020 and 2021 with the Chanticleers, during which time his offenses compiled an 11-1 record and the program’s first Sun Belt Conference Championship (2020) and an 11-2 record and a 47-41 win over Northern Illinois in the Tailgreeter Cure Bowl (2021).

Washington played college football at Appalachian State before spending from 2014-16 in the NFL with Indianapolis, Jacksonville, and New England.
