WVU Football Bolsters O-Line With 2026 ATH Aidan Woods
2026 3-star ATH Aidan Woods inked with WVU Football on Wednesday, Dec. 4 as part of the Mountaineers’ Early Signing Day haul.
Woods is 6-foot-5, 280 pound recruit from Virginia who played at both tight end and defensive line during his junior year of high school. He tagged Mountaineers’ offensive line coaches like Jack Bicknell Jr. and recruiting assistant Alex Miller in his initial commitment post on Nov. 10, indicating that he’ll man the trenches with West Virginia despite his ‘ATH’ label. That designation also speaks to his athletic talent, as it typically applies to hybrid offensive talents or wide receivers/cornerbacks capable of playing both sides of the football, rather than applying to the big guys up front.
Given his height, Woods will fit best at tackle at the next level, but he may need some time to add bulk as he prepares for the rigors of Division I football… and with his experience at tight end, don’t rule out the potential for a target or two once he does see the field. If Woods plays during his true freshman season, he could work his way onto the field as a swing tackle or an extra offensive lineman in heavy sets.
The offensive line became an Achilles’ heel for WVU Football in 2025 as the Mountaineers struggled to a 4-8 record. That made the position group a major recruiting focus, and Woods is one of seven recruits at the position expected to sign with the team during the early window.
