And as Collins has been weighing his options, he spoke with WV Sports Now about his recruitment twice recently.
Listed at 6-foot-2 and 190 pounds, Collins is a consensus four-star and ranked as one of the top 50 players in Texas. On3 Sports even has the industry average for Collins with him as the 31st best safety in the country and No. 39 Texas prospect for his class.
Collins can already envision himself making plays in a Mountaineer uniform.

“I fit their defense and I can see me making huge plays as a Mountaineer.”
Collins also told WVSN what has made West Virginia stand out enough to have a real shot at winning his eventual commitment.
It’s all about consistency, meaning how consistent the WVU staff has been at showing their interest.

Most major recruiting services believe Collins will commit to either Oklahoma State or Utah, with the Utes as the front runner. But Collins’ visit will allow West Virginia a chance to win him over and make him a future Mountaineer instead.
WVU sent Collins an offer towards the end of January. He then visited for the first time in late March.
Collins also has prominent offers from schools like Arizona, Houston, Michigan State, Oregon State, Pitt, TCU, Texas Tech and several others.
Collins recorded 20 tackles and made six interceptions in 2024 while also racking up 310 yards and scoring a pair of touchdowns as a receiver.
When asked to describe himself as a player, Collins used words like cerebral, ballhawk, playmaker and athlete.
