WVU Football Ups Offers in Face of Major Decommitments

Wednesday night was a rough one for the West Virginia football coaching staff.

After working hard for months to land major commitments and have their Class of 2022 ranked in the Top 20 nationally, two prominent players changed their minds and decided they won’t be signing with the Mountaineers.

Georgia 4-star running back Justin Williams and Pennsylvania 4-star wide receiver Kevin Thomas both announced that they were decommitting from Neal Brown and WVU.

Although this happens to every program and it’s part of the business, that news was no doubt a gut punch to the coaching staff.

However, the show goes on and while all of this was happening, WVU had an unusually busy evening extending offer to players in various classes, including to one that’s already committed elsewhere. Here’s a recap of a busy Wednesday night in the WVU recruiting world.

Mekhai White: 2024 athlete from King George, Virginia. Offers from Boston College, Maryland, North Carolina, Pitt, Virginia, Virginia Tech and Old Dominion.
