Former West Virginia linebacker Tony Fields II has been drafted with the 153rd pick in the fifth round of the 2021 NFL Draft by the Cleveland Browns.

Fields played just one season with the Mountaineers after transferring to WVU from Arizona prior to the 2020 season. A native of Las Vegas, Nevada, Fields was an instant starter with the Wildcats in 2017. He was named a Freshman All-American after racking up 104 total tackles as a true freshman in 2017. He went on to total 89 and 95 tackles in 2018 and 2019, respectively.

Following the 2019 season, Fields transferred to WVU and transitioned to the will linebacker position. Not missing a beat, Fields led the Mountaineers with 88 tackles in 2020. He was named to the All-Big 12 first team and was named the Big 12 Defensive Newcomer of the Year following the season.

Fields skipped WVU’s bowl game against Army at the end of the 2020 season. He accepted an invitation to compete in the 2021 Reese’s Senior Bowl.
