The West Virginia baseball program’s loss is another Big 12 team’s gain. Star outfielder Austin Davis confirmed a report that he is transferring to Texas Christian University.

Davis, who graduated from WVU in May after making the decision to return to Morgantown for his senior season, he finished the 2022 season hitting .330, posting a .402 OBP with home runs, 26 RBI, 56 runs and recording overall 74 hits as the Mountaineers leadoff hitter. He also stole 29 bases for second most on the team behind only Victor Scott, who broke the single season record in program history with 38.

The Orlando, Florida native started 136 out of 164 games he appeared in his four-year career at WVU.

Losing Davis to a conference rival is a bit hit by itself, but is compounded by the fact Scott was drafted by the Cardinals, meaning manager Randy Mazey may have to replace 2 of his starting outfielders.
