WVU Offers 2022 Michigan Athlete

West Virginia OLB coach Al Pogue has recently reached out and offered 2022 athlete Dillon Tatum of West Bloomfield High School (MI).

“I was really excited to hear the great news, it was very unexpected and just blessed that WVU recognized what I have to offer to their football program and in the classroom,” stated Tatum.

Tatum is a couple of years away before he can get that official written offer from WVU. Like most high school athletes, Dillon plays on both sides of the ball. On offense, he plays receiver and running back and believes he’s suited to be a running back at WVU but recognizes what he has to do to stay on coach Pogue and the Mountaineers radar.

“I think as long as I keep doing what I’m supposed to be doing on and off the field, we’ll stay tight, and hopefully, I can make it on campus either this year or next year,” said Tatum and also explaining that he’ll have to find time to take an official visit next year.

Current Dallas Cowboy and former Mountaineer Tavon not only made a huge impact in Morgantown but his highlight tapes continue to make their rounds on social media and still influence high school kids today. Tatum stated during Austin’s time as a Mountaineer that he was his biggest idol and you can see it in how he plays the game using his speed and his ability to make defenders miss for a big play. Not a comparison, but you can see the influence.

The coaching staff that called the plays for Tavon has moved on and Neal Brown and company have taken the reigns at WVU but Dillon “loves what the new coaching staff is doing overall”.

Tatum is interested in anyone who believes in him and will utilize his talents on the field. The most important thing to him in a school is people willing to help him in the classroom, on the field and get a good education that will set me up well after football.

As of right now, Dillon plans to make his decision following his junior year.
