2023 IOL Austin Siereveld Wants to Continue Building Relationship with WVU Staff

2023 interior offensive lineman Austin Siereveld had received plenty of interest from college football teams during his junior season at Lakota East High School in Liberty Township, Ohio, but the offers just weren’t coming in.

Now in the last week, he’s received offers from Ohio, Michigan State, Toledo, Ohio State, Cincinnati, Illinois and now West Virginia. Siereveld (6-foot-5, 310 pounds) is happy that the offers have started rolling, but it’s only motivated him to work that much harder now.

Of course, Siereveld’s relationship with WVU is still in the early stages. His first contact with WVU came Tuesday. And after a great conversation with WVU Director of Recruiting Scott Gaspar on Wednesday, he officially picked up his offer.

“We talked about what he saw in me that he liked, what West Virginia has to offer to me, not only as a football player but as a student,” Siereveld told WV Sports Now.

While Siereveld isn’t too familiar with WVU or its coaching staff, he does want to learn more. And he does want to continue to grow the bond he’s built with Gaspar. “Yeah, and I want to keep building [a relationship with him],” Siereveld said. “And with all the other coaches.”

Siereveld is hopeful to make a visit to Morgantown in the future, but he’s still working out the logistics of his recruiting visits.

The offer from WVU is important to Siereveld, feeling honored to have the Mountaineer coaching staff believe in his ability on the field, and that’s exactly why he’s determined to keep working. Whichever school that lands his commitment is going to receive a guy who just wants to work harder.

Siereveld doesn’t feel like WVU — or any school for that matter — has done something to stand out above the others, as each school has been different in its own ways. Which is something that he likes so far.

He’s hopeful to be able to announce his commitment before his senior season begins next fall and after he’s taken all of his visits.

247Sports and Rivals have not ranked Siereveld yet, and that’ll likely change soon, but 247Sports has projected that he will land with Ohio State.
