The present means nothing if you don’t build the future. And a day after West Virginia football beat a rival on the road, a recruit announces he has received an offer from the Mountaineers.

Dual threat quarterback/receiver Quintin Simmons tweeted an image of the WV logo and an old picture of the team in action to say he was “blessed to receive an offer from WVU (his tweet said University of West Virginia and not West Virginia, but he will learn).

Simmons is currently a sophomore at Withrow High School in Cincinnati, Ohio. He would be a member of the 2025 recruiting class. This young athlete lists himself 6’1 and 170 pounds in his Twitter bio and is listed as the 93rd player in the state of Ohio by Max Preps.

Extending an offer to an Ohio player with years still left in his high school career also shows that Neal Brown and West Virginia are looking to dip back into Ohio, a place the program has been criticized by national college football analyst Mike Farrell for giving up on in the past.

Farrell discussed this topic as part of his appearance on show on WV Sports Now in the past.
