DeAndre Thomas, a 6-7 forward from Allen, Tx., had signed at North Texas, but will follow former UNT coach Ross Hodge to West Virginia. His coach at Allen High School, Chris Blakeley, spent two years on Hodge’s staff at North Texas.
Thomas is rated as a three-star prospect and the 27th-best player in Texas by 247Sports. He is unranked by Rivals and ESPN. Along with North Texas, Thomas also held offers from Holy Cross, Oral Roberts and Rice.
Thomas is the second player to follow Hodge from North Texas, joining junior forward Brenen Lorient, who announced his transfer to WVU earlier this week. Thomas is Hodge’s first high school recruit at West Virginia.
