2025 TE Details Hybrid Style, Experience with Blaine Stewart at WVU Football Camp
Toby Laughery doesn’t need anyone to tell him about what being a West Virginia Mountaineer is all about. Over the weekend, the Winfield, W.Va. native got to experience a taste of it at a WVU football camp for recruits.
Laughery (6-foot-4, 220 pounds) made the most of his time on campus, earning an offer as a preferred walk-on. He then discussed where his recruitment is now and what he learned from the WVU coaches with WV Sports Now.
The offer even came with an endorsement and a vote of confidence from WVU tight ends coach Blaine Stewart. Laughery was the only tight end to receive a PWO offer from this particular camp session.
“Coach (Bill) Stewart talked to my dad and I and said that he’d love to have me up there playing football,” explained Laughery about what Stewart said to him.

To paint the picture of who Laughery is as a player, he refers to himself as a “great hybrid” type.
“I would say that I am a great hybrid. Strong blocker, with the athletic ability to run routes and catch the ball,” explained Laughery, who then also added that he’s coachable and able to process information quickly.

So even though Laughery, who also plays linebacker at Winfield High School, might be flying under the radar some as a recruit, he has caught the eye of other programs as well.
It’s looking like Laughery is going to have to decide between fulfilling his childhood dream of being a Mountaineer or pursuing an opportunity that will likely come with more playing time at a smaller school.
Laughery revealed Columbia, Dartmouth, Davidson, Eastern Kentucky, Marshall and Saint Francis as the schools he’s talked with the most.
