2026 Safety Taj Powell Looking to Solidify WVU Football Commitment During OV

A few months after committing to be a future Mountaineer, 2026 safety Taj Powell will be back in Morgantown to check out the WVU football program this coming weekend.
Despite committing in April, the 6-foot-3 and 205 pound Springfield High School product out of Springfield, Ohio is still taking an official visit to solidify his desire to move to West Virginia when he finishes high school.

Considered a three-star prospect, Powell was offered by West Virginia defensive coordinator Zac Alley directly in late January and then quickly spent some time on the WVU campus.
Powell has had his West Virginia official visit booked for early June since February.
Itโs believed Powell picked West Virginia over Kentucky. He also had offers from Bowling Green, Eastern Kentucky, Eastern Michigan, Kent State, Miami (OH), Ohio, Temple and Toledo. Out of those schools, Ohio stands out due to being on West Virginiaโs 2025 schedule.
Rich Rodriguez will lead the Mountaineers to Athens, Ohio to take on the Bobcats in a Week 2 non conference matchup.
