Amani Hansberry Follows Chester Frazier to Virginia Tech

Amani Hansberry has found a new home, following Chester Frazier to Virginia Tech, he announced Saturday afternoon. Hansberry entered the transfer portal following head coach Darian DeVries’s departure on March 25.
A sophomore center, Hansberry transferred to WVU from Illinois last offseason. He and fellow former Illini Sencire Harris followedย associate head coach Chester Fraizer. Frazier accepted a job at Virginia Tech this offseason and Hansberry again followed him.
Hansberry played in 31 games this season with 24 starts, missing a single game with an injury. He was second on WVU in scoring, averaging 9.8 points and led the team with 6.5 rebounds. He showcased great versatility on offense, shooting 54.1% inside the arc while making 35 three-pointers, the third-most on the team.
He scored a season-high 19 points on back-to-back nights against Lousiville and Arizona in the Battle 4 Atlantis in The Bahamas. Hansberry scored double-digit points 13 times and recorded four double-doubles.
Other former Mountaineers heading to new places include Jonathan Powell going to North Carolina and KJ Tenner going to Murray State.
