Arizona Captures Big 12 Baseball Tournament Title

For some consolation for WVU fans, the team that eliminated West Virginia ended up winning the Big 12 Tournament championship.

Arizona dominated the Mountaineers in the quarterfinals to the tune of a 12-1 blowout on Thursday and then won in extra innings for the title on Saturday night. The Wildcats had to rally in the ninth to tie the game, but won a 2-1 thriller over TCU for their second consecutive conference tournament championship.

Arizona capped off their time in the Pac-12 last year by winning the conference’s final tournament and then tool home the trophy following their debut season in the Big 12.

Arizona’s automatic bid ensures at least one Big 12 team in the NCAA field. West Virginia is expected to earn an at-large bid for their 41 overall wins and claiming the regular season conference title.

Both Arizona and WVU will learn their fates and where they’re headed for regional play on Monday.
